The Acheron River crosses the Prefectures of Ioannina, Thesprotia and Preveza and has a total length of 64 kilometers. It has been navigable since ancient times and is today one of the main and cleanest rivers in Greece. However, the Acheron is a unique river that anyone can cross and explore. The starting point for crossing the river and the springs is our hotel. From the hotel begins a 300-meter path that will lead you to the first large spring of the river. <\/p>

Then you will continue your journey through the water, having the opportunity to see the other springs along the river as well as the large ravines of the canyon.<\/p>

According to popular tradition, the waters of the Acheron River were bitter as a “monster” that lived in its sources was poisoning the waters. Saint Donatos, patron saint of the Metropolis of Paramythia in Thesprotia, killed the monster and the waters of the Acheron became sweet. This is how the village of Glyki got its name. <\/p>

Also, an interesting element from ancient Greek mythology that testifies to its continuation in modern popular tradition is the following: During the Titanic War, the Titans drank water from Acheron to quench their thirst, an event that provoked the wrath of Zeus, who turned its waters black and bitter.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
